What a month!

Ok, so I haven't updated in a while. This month has been a little crazy. Last week the my spring semester at school started. After a lot of debate and agony, I decide to graduate one semester later than originally planned because I just couldn't do it all! This semester I'm doing clinicals, 180 hours of them! Plus I'm working one night a week, and I do want to see our little girl. Any ways, after making the decision, I'm planning on graduating in May of 2012, which will make the next few semesters just a little bit easier. The next big stressor is that Sophia has decided to stop nursing! She didn't nurse Wednesday night, but nursed early Thursday morning, then not again until today (Sunday). She's nursed twice today, but only with a little coaxing. These past few days have been really rough, she's been fussy, and I've been so worried about her never nursing again! Apparently it's called a nursing strike. After talking to the lactation consultant at work, and my sister (who said all 3 of her kids did this), I tried to relax, and take it one feed at a time. We haven't let Sophia have her binky, and have stopped giving her bottles and using sippy cups instead. Hopefully we will keep progressing, but at least she's nursed again! Needless to say, the past week or so have been really stressful for me. Here are some pictures from the past month though.

Look at me, I can use a sippy cup all by myself!
Look at those curls!

Fun in the snow

Yesterday it snowed again! This has been a particularly dry winter, so it's just wonderful when we get snow in the city. This was only the second real snow storm of the season, which is so unusual for Denver. We probably have at least 5 inches of snow on the ground this morning, and it's just beautiful. Clear blue skies, and a white covered ground, it doesn't get much better. Yesterday afternoon while Ricky was clearing the walkways, we decided to take Sophia out in her snow suit, which is still quite a bit big, and let her see the snow. She actually enjoyed sitting in it and patting the snow on the ground.

A visit from Emma

As many of you probably know, Emma and I have been friends since Kindergarten. We've come a long way since we were 5 years old. I always love when she comes to visit. Emma got engaged in December, while in Paris with her dad and now fiance! I'm so excited for her. It was so great seeing her this past week. She came over almost everyday and spent a little time with us. She provided Sophia with lots of new entertainment. Here are just a couple pictures.

Big changes are happening

On Monday, just a few days before she turned 8 months old, we had to say goodbye to Sophia's gummy smile, and hello to her first tooth! It broke through her gums, and and it looks like we have a lot more coming soon. Poor mommy is all I can say. Since Sophia is still nursing, I do not appreciate the new tooth and how it has caused her to start biting me!
Another change is that she is really trying to crawl. She rolls all over, but now is spending more and more time on her stomach trying to move forward. She has figured out that if she can get off the carpet and onto the wood floor that she can scoot and slide. I think it's time to start baby-proofing this house.
Last, but not least, Sophia turned 8 months old yesterday (January 7th)! This year is flying by, and before we know it she's going to be a year old. It just makes me realize how important it is to cherish every moment I have with her because she is only this young once. I don't want to miss anything!

Making some blog changes

My friend Daniele is so creative and artistic. She has motivated me to improve this blog while I still have time before my school vacation ends. Please be patient with me as I hopefully improve the appearance of our blog. I finally have figured out how to widen the blog, so that our pictures can be much larger, and you will see this change from now on. It's a work in progress to please bear with me.

Zoo lights

We finally got to go to the Denver Zoo, zoo lights, on the last night it was open. It had gotten so cold here, but the night we went it wasn't too bad. We bundled Sophia up, and she seemed to really enjoy looking at all the lights, and people of course! Here are some pictures.
