12 Weeks!!!

Wow, Sophia is 12 weeks old as of yesterday, July 30th. Today I noticed that she has found her feet! She grabs them with her hands, very cute if I do say so myself. She's such a happy little girl. Today we are off to Seattle for Michael and Catherine Dougherty's 10 year wedding vow renewal. We're making it a family reunion. Sophia finally gets to meet all of her Dougherty side cousins!!! We are especially looking forward to meeting the other new addition to our family, Ella King. Pictures to come when we get back. I, unfortunately, am scheduled to go back to work on Friday. Below are some pictures from this past week.

Happy, with curly hair!

New bed

This week we decided that Sophia was quickly outgrowing her moses basket, so we decided it was time to switch her to the pack n play until she's ready to move to her crib. My criteria for the crib transition is she will have to mostly sleep through the night. We tried putting her in the pack n play 2 nights in a row, and both times, as soon as she was put down, she would wake up! She used to do that in the basket, but now she doesn't. She's back in her basket for now, while I leave my PJs in the pack n play, so hopefully she'll start sleeping in that soon once it smells more like mommy. That was how we got her to sleep in the basket,  so hopefully the trick will work again!

Happy Mama

Such a happy little girl
Today Sophia is 11 weeks old! I just can't believe how fast time flies.
This week has been interesting. Ricky fed Sophia two nights in a row so I could sleep. It was wonderful. We moved Sophia's bassinet to Ricky's side of the bed. Both nights she slept until about 5am after being fed at 11! We couldn't believe it. My theory is that she can't smell and hear her mommy and so she doesn't wake up to eat or cuddle. So, last night we tried out my theory. We left her bassinet on Ricky's side of the bed, and I figured I would just feed her when she woke up. I fed her at 9pm, she fell asleep around 10pm, and didn't wake up until 5am! She went 8 hours without eating and slept 7 straight hours! AMAZING!!! She ate at 5 and then slept until 6:30. I hope we keep trending this way. I think we'll leave her bassinet by Ricky and see if that continues to make a difference. Below are some pictures from the week, that I just love!
Smile!
Aren't I just adorable?!

Chubby Cheeks
This morning when Sophia woke up at 6:30 Ricky took her out to the den and the two of them curled up on the couch. I got up about 7 to find them like this.
Shortly after that Tucker decided to join in! I love my family!

Ricky's turn

Last night Ricky took his first turn at getting up with Sophia and feeding her throughout the night so I could sleep. We moved Sophia's bassinet onto Ricky's side of the bed. We took some milk out of the freezer, divided it into bottles so he was all ready. I fed Sophia at 11 before we went to bed, she had been asleep since about 8:30. Ricky heard Sophia begin to stir around 3:30 so he got up and warmed up a bottle but when he tried to feed it to her she refused to take it! He tried for a while, but she just went back to sleep. She woke up again at 6 to eat, and that time she actually took the bottle. So, now we are wondering, can Sophia go most of the night without eating, does she just want to cuddle? Or, was last night a fluke? We'll see what happens as Ricky continues to take his turn getting up with her at night. I got a decent nights sleep, which was much needed after the night before, when I didn't get much sleep at all! Ricky needs to get used to this, since I'll be back at work in 2 weeks, and I work nights!

Crazy week

This week has been sort of crazy! Sophia is now 10 weeks old, time is just flying by. On Wednesday Sarah's cousin Jen brought her dog Cooper over for us to watch through Sunday. Cooper is a very energetic crazy little puppy. Tucker was not thrilled when Cooper arrived, but quickly learned that Cooper does not know how to get on the couch, so he used that as his escape. Sarah's friend from college, Miranda, arrived on Thursday and was here until Sunday. They had a blast together, despite the horrible heat! The highlight of the visit was tea at the Brown Palace.

Sophia is starting to establish a sleeping schedule. She takes one or two short morning naps. She likes to doze on the morning walks with her mommy. She then takes a long 3-4 hour afternoon nap starting at around 1 or 2 pm. Finally, she dozes again on the evening walk with her mommy, comes home, eats, and goes to bed around 9pm. Now if we could just space out her nighttime feedings things would be wonderful!

4th of July in LA

Our last day in LA was on the 4th of July. Throughout the week we watched Nicolas's (our nephew) swimming skills improve. At the beginning of the trip he was a true wall hugger. He barely even wanted to leave the stairs in the pool, and when he did he was holding onto the wall in the shallow end. On the 4th of July he began swimming in the deep end and jumping off the diving board with his cousin Elijah! It was such an amazing transformation. Below are some pictures from the 4th of July.

LA

Our trip was amazing. We spent lots of time at different beaches including Malibu, Newport, and Santa Monica. Sarah's sister Liz and her 3 children came to LA as well and Liz's husband Drew joined us for the last few days. In addition to time at the beach we went for walks, and spent a lot of time and Sarah's parents' pool. It was just what we all needed- relaxing! The first weekend we were there, Sarah's cousin Margot's daughter Katie had her birthday party. Lots of Sarah's family was also in LA including cousins, children, and Sarah's aunt and uncle (Bernie and Susan). We had a blast seeing everyone. One day we went to the aquarium and took a boat ride around the harbor. On the fourth of July we spent the day at Larry and Estelle's by the pool. Sarah's cousins and their children came over and we had a delicious BBQ. We took over 800 pictures of our trip! Below are just a few pictures of time at the beaches, in the pool, at Katie's birthday party, at the aquarium, etc.

The fancy "huge" sand castle that Lily wanted to build the entire trip. Although, you can tell who actually built it.
